So, it seems that Ed Sheeran may be going to court yet again over allegation of Copyright Infringement, this time he is joined by a couple of other major names in the music industry.
According to (TMZ), Konstantine Lois and Shane Williams are suing Ed Sheeran, Halsey, Khalid and Benny Blanco, as well as their labels for their 2018 hit “Eastside”. While ED Sheeran wasn’t featured on the track as an artist, he is credited as a songwriter, which is why he the two are targeting Sheeran as well.
This isn’t the first time Sheeran has has copyright allegations against him during his career.
According to documents Lois and Williams say that “Eastside” is a copy of their 2015 song entitled “Loveless”. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit cite that the hit “Eastside” has similar tempos, note dyads, intervals and the beat just sounds “way to familiar”.
It seems Lois and Williams doesn’t feel this is a coincidence either, as they cited an article posted by Vibe where Blanco mentioned that he listens to multiple songs each and everyday to try to find inspiration for new music. The duo seem to think that Blanco heard their song “Loveless” and decided to lift parts of this song to make “Eastside” with the other artist.
We’ve included both the songs below, so go take a listen and see what you think!
Let us know in the comments what you think, is the copyright infringement a valid claim?
